Our first assignment was to choose a successful Design Thinking example, research about it and write a blog post about it (see section “How Companies Use Design Thinking). We then had two meetings in which each of us held a 20-minute presentation about his or her chosen case. One of the meetings took place in the Design Thinking Lab at the Leonardo Campus, so that we were finally able to meet in person for the first time. The second one took place online, so that one of our team mates who was still on his semester abroad could hold his presentation as well. We are really thankful, that our supervisors offered that opportunity.
The assignment was a very helpful task for jumping into the topic of Design Thinking. It was very interesting to see how companies use Design Thinking in completely different situations. We had examples about founding stories, new product developments in established companies, or even to re-organize company structures. Also we got a first glimpse at how solutions one would not directly think of can emerge with the help of this customer-centric approach.
